What? The 964 was never considered the ugly duckling from what I've seen. Do you even 996?

I have to agree with Brian. The 996 is definitely the ugly duckling.

Really? For me 964 has always been greater than the 993.

I never thought it was an ugly duckling...but I think others have in the past...it was my favorite 911 since I got Need For Speed Porsche Unleashed when I was in eight grade back in 2001!

Really? the 964 has long been my favorite of all 911's. The 996 is the worst that's for damn sure.

?...I am referring to a game that came out when I was kid...it is not important...several articles etc. have referred to the 964 as the ugly duckling, but that opinion has evolved and changed...is it not clear from the post, and my Oppo name that I am not of that opinion?

My boss, the owner of the shop, has a 964 RS America. I put a Guard diff in it, and it's on Bilsteins & coilovers. It's a very cool car. The standard 964 is sort of underwhelming in stock form, but that's easily changed, and for the money it's hard to go wrong because all other aircooled 911 prices have gone supernova.

I'm just shocked you don't dislike the 996 a lot.

The 996 is personally not my cup of tea...but it is a great value for money...my point of the article was to point out the rise in recognition for the 964, versus pointing out my dislike for other generations

I got mine before prices went crazy...it has 34K miles...I replaced the stock wheels with Cup wheels and I had the suspension upgraded with Bilstein front Struts, Bilstein shocks and H&R sway bars...here is a pic of mine

I am not trying to be rude, but did you read the post fully? I am not sure how it is remotely possible that my post can be misconstrued as condemning the 964? Please Re-read the post and you will see that I was highlighting the fact that the 964 is getting the praise and recognition that it deserves. I was merely pointing out that in the past, other 911 owners and the automotive press has INCORRECTLY labeled the 964 as the ugly duckling. Obviously I do not think that as I own a 964!!!!! I apologize about the tone in this response, but I am disappointed in the Oppo community's misinterpretation of my praise dr the 964

I am not trying to be rude, but did you read my post fully? I am not sure how it is remotely possible that my post can be misconstrued as saying you, specifically, are condemning the 964? Please Re-read the post and you will see that it wasn't aimed at anyone. Ok, ok that's not totally true because I worded my first post badly, but it was fun to steal your text. I used "What you talkin bout?" more as a general catchall for the Porsche community.

It's also this kid's fault:

Here, have a 964 that's out in our parking lot right now:

Thanks, I actually have 3 aircooled VWs. The '61 would have a roof rack too if it didn't have this on the roof.
